OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing) hosts "earthquake awareness" conference

Speaking at the "Earthquake Awareness" conference organized by OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing), Istanbul Deputy Governor and Arnavutköy District Governor Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu stated that a comprehensive preparation process is underway to make Istanbul more resilient to disasters.

Preparations for a potential earthquake in Istanbul are being carried out through two main plans, steps to reduce risks and applications that strengthen the response capacity in the event of a disaster.

Speaking at the "Earthquake Awareness" conference organized by OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing), Istanbul Deputy Governor and Arnavutköy District Governor Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu stated that a comprehensive preparation process is underway to make Istanbul more resilient to disasters.

The conference, held at OYAK Dragos Plaza, was hosted by OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing) General Manager Yusuf Yenilmez and OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing) executives. The program also included AFAD Istanbul Provincial Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener and experts in the field of earthquakes.

Two Main Disaster Plans for Istanbul from the Governorship

Speaking at the event, Hersanlıoğlu emphasized the importance of coordination among public institutions, supporting urban transformation, and increasing institutional cooperation.

Stating that the work throughout Istanbul is progressing within two main frameworks, Hersanlıoğlu said these are the "disaster risk reduction plan" and the "disaster response plan." Hersanlıoğlu said, "Our efforts to reduce risks continue with determination. We are constantly updating our disaster response plan to make it more effective. The process is progressing with implementation and monitoring in the field."

Noting that concrete actions have been defined for each institution and that these actions are monitored through regular follow-up mechanisms, Hersanlıoğlu pointed out the importance of volunteer-based search and rescue efforts to increase the response capacity in case of a disaster, and stated that citizen participation in the process is critical.

Hersanlıoğlu, also touching upon OYAK's corporate capacity, stated, "It is important for a structure with thousands of employees who have developed disaster awareness to be organized in a way that is consistent with the goal of a disaster-resilient Türkiye, and for its existing resources to be prepared accordingly."

OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing) General Manager Yusuf Yenilmez also commented on the conference, saying, "Disaster preparedness is not only the responsibility of public institutions but also the shared responsibility of the entire society. As OYAK Pazarlama (Marketing), we prioritize raising awareness among our employees and stakeholders, and increasing their level of knowledge and preparedness in this area. With such efforts, we aim to create a more conscious and prepared structure against potential disasters."
