Sustainability
Sustainability
At OYAK, sustainability and occupational health and safety (OHS) are integral to long-term value creation. By proactively identifying and managing current and emerging economic, environmental and social risks, while recognising opportunities for sustainable growth, OYAK aims to strengthen its resilience and competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic global business environment.
Reflecting the diverse nature of its operations, OYAK assesses climate-related risks across the sectors in which it operates. It closely monitors developments in national climate policies, the transition to low-carbon production and associated regulatory and operational changes, taking appropriate action in response.
As part of this approach, carbon emissions monitoring and management have become integral to OYAK's business practices and decision-making processes.
Sustainability at OYAK
Management Approach
Since its establishment in 1961, OYAK has steadily expanded its operations and geographical presence while maintaining a strong commitment to creating value for Turkey. This commitment continues to guide its strategic decisions and investment considerations.
As it prepares for the future, OYAK recognises its responsibilities towards its more than 460,000 members, society and the environment. With the active support of senior management, a comprehensive and integrated sustainability strategy is embedded throughout the institution.
OYAK Ecosystem
As a supplementary occupational pension fund committed to continuous improvement and responsible management, OYAK seeks to preserve the trust it has built over generations and carry this legacy into the future.
The growing importance of circular economy principles highlights the need to transform production and consumption patterns, use resources responsibly and adopt effective waste management practices.
Sustainable resource management involves reducing raw material consumption, improving resource efficiency, minimising waste generation and promoting recycling. These practices can also help reduce operating costs while supporting safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible working environments.
On 26 July 2019, OYAK launched the Zero Waste Project at its headquarters as the first initiative under the OYAK ecosystem approach. The project aims to foster a lasting culture of waste prevention and resource efficiency.
By prioritising waste prevention and implementing effective waste management practices, the project seeks to advance circular economy principles, improve resource efficiency and promote responsible resource use throughout the institution.
Occupational Health and Safety at OYAK
Building on its longstanding institutional experience, OYAK is committed to the continuous improvement of its occupational health and safety (OHS) practices.
Guided by shared values and principles, OYAK works to strengthen OHS awareness, develop organisational expertise and promote a proactive approach to workplace health and safety.
Management Approach
OYAK's OHS management approach is built around three key priorities: establishing clear occupational health and safety objectives at OYAK Headquarters, fostering a sustainable safety culture and promoting a zero-accident culture among all employees.
Through its OHS initiatives, OYAK aims to provide a healthy and safe working environment for employees and other stakeholders, integrate occupational health and safety into all business activities and continuously improve its safety performance in line with internationally recognised standards.
With the active commitment and support of senior management, occupational health and safety remain fundamental principles and priorities throughout OYAK.
Policy and Strategy
OYAK's Occupational Health and Safety Policy provides the foundation for its ongoing commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
Drawing on its extensive institutional experience, OYAK develops and implements strategies that drive continuous improvement, reinforce its safety culture and guide its occupational health and safety management practices.
