OYAK Çimento Fabrikaları A.Ş. and OYAK Concrete Misis Ready-Mixed Concrete Facility, which have been carrying out pioneering activities in the cement and concrete industries in Turkey for a sustainable world, have been awarded a “Zero Waste Certificate” by fulfilling the requirements of the Zero Waste Regulation. OYAK has contributed to the goal of sustainable growth by developing responsible behavior models that respect the needs of today and tomorrow, and started the OYAK Zero Waste Project to comply with the relevant legislation, and ensured its implementation in its companies.
OYAK Çimento Fabrikaları A.Ş., Adana Çimento Branch, Aslan Çimento Branch, Bolu Çimento Branch, Ankara Branch, Mardin Çimento Branch, Ünye Çimento Branch, Iskenderun I - II facilities and Denizli Çimento Sanayi T.A.Ş. successfully established the Zero Waste Management System under the Zero Waste Regulation and were entitled to receive the Zero Waste Certificate. In addition to this, the OYAK Concrete Misis Ready-Mixed Concrete Facility operating in Adana received a Zero Waste Certificate, and OYKA Paper Packaging’s application is evaluated by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization.
With the Zero Waste Certificate, OYAK Çimento Fabrikaları A.Ş. and OYAK Concrete focused on reducing waste generation by reducing the amount of waste released to the environment and contributing to a sustainable environment. Furthermore, efficient use of resources and recyclable waste is brought into the economy, contributing greatly to sustainable resource management and the circular economy.
Within the scope of the work carried out at OYAK’s Cement Factories and OYAK Concrete Misis Facility to prevent and reduce waste generation, it is being planned to develop sustainable production and consumption models for the efficient use of resources and to use durable, repairable, reusable and remediable products, to choose reusable products instead of disposable/single-use products, and to raise awareness and consciousness. It is aimed to reduce waste by 15 percent by the end of one year with the efforts towards reducing wastes.
OYAK's five cement plants, which merged under a single roof in May under OYAK's sustainable growth strategy, contribute to the improvement processes with the strong synergy created by this merger. Thus, OYAK Cement facilities set an example to each other with the best practices, allowing OYAK to fulfill its responsibilities to the environment and society at the highest level.
